Das Lehr- und Forschungsbereich Disability Studies & Selbstbestimmt Leben Innsbruck e.V. laden am Samstag, 9. Jänner 2016 in Innsbruck zu einem Vortrag (Englisch) mit Alan Courtis.
Presenting audio and video extracts from music projects involving disabled people from all over the globe, this lecture will reflect on the social aspects of music practice as well as its problems and potentials.
Its aim is to show the potential of music as a tool for social integration.
Alan Courtis has been a music teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina, since 1993. He holds a MA degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, where he annually runs a workshop and a seminar on the subject “Art and Disability” in cooperation with the Foundation of Disabled Artists (Fundación Artistas Discapacitados).
More than 300 solo projects and collaborations fromCourtis have been released by record labels such as PSF (Japan), Mego (Austria), Pogus (USA), Sub Rosa (Belgium), No-Fi (UK) or Porter Records (USA).
